To be considered for an enrolment at SALS the young person needs to be enrolled in a WA public school.
1. Speak with Your School: Start by speaking with your school’s Student Services Team about the support and options available for your young person.
2. Referral: If SALS is considered a suitable option, your school will submit a referral to the relevant Education Regional Office.
3. Referral Assessment: SALS works in partnership with the Education Regional Office to assess each referral against the program’s intake criteria and suitability requirements.
4. Each referral is considered individually, and meeting the intake criteria does not guarantee enrolment.
5. Meeting with SALS: If the referral progresses, your enrolled school will contact you and a meeting with SALS will be arranged to discuss your young person’s needs and the next steps.
- Students attend via an Alternative Attendance Arrangement. This means your young person remains enrolled at their current school while they attend our program.
- Students individual education plans are designed around the Students, Carers and schools goals.
- Students engage in Social and Emotional Learning along with Project Based Learning that embeds the Australian National Curriculum.
- Students attend SALS for a limited time, after which they are supported to transition back to their enrolled school or alternative education pathway.
Q: Do you have to wear a uniform?
A: No, students are not required to wear a uniforms at SALS.
Q: Do school phone rules apply at SALS?
A: Yes, SALS is a school within the Department of Education, so we have the same expectation that your phone is off and away all day.
Q: What type of school work is done?
A: We focus on Social and Emotional learning and Project Based Learning. Individual Education Plans are created around students goals and interests.

A: Each site only accomodates 10 students
Q: How long is the school day?
A: Each site is slightly different but generally the SALS day starts at 9am and finishes at 2pm
